The BBJ MAX 9 is a business jet aircraft that entered the market in 2019. Equipped with two LEAP-1B turbofan engines which produce 28,000 pounds of power, the BBJ MAX 9 can accommodate eight passengers with a range of 6,515 nautical miles and a maximum cruise speed of 470 knots.
On June 17, 2015, at the Paris Airshow, the American company Boeing announced the sale of the first BBJ MAX 9 by an undisclosed European customer. Developed from the best-selling Boeing BBJ 737 MAX airliner, the BBJ MAX family features the best combination of space, comfort, and range. With an unparalleled cabin comfort, lower fuel usage, increase range capability, advanced flight deck, lower noise, and reduced emissions enable the aircraft to fully meet the different needs of business jet customers. Also, BBJ MAX owners gain from a lower total cost to own in comparison to other expensive business jets. The enhanced maintenance schedule of the aircraft drives operating costs that are almost the same as smaller business jets, and still keep relatively higher residual values.
The BBJ MAX 9 is designed with a spacious cabin- more than three times the cabin area as the majority of business jets of its kind, bespoke interiors to match the preference of VIP, and lower cabin altitude. The cabin has a length of 32.67 meters, a height of 2.16 meters, and a width of 3.3 meters.
The aircraft has an exterior length of 42.18 meters, a height of 12.3 meters, and a fuselage diameter of 3.5 meters. The MAX 9 has a wingspan of 35.69 meters and features an advanced technology winglet. The wingtip uses natural laminar flow to reduce drag while at the same time increasing the effective wingspan. This winglet is standard on all BBJ MAX aircraft.
The MAX 9 is powered by two CFM LEAP-1B engines with a maximum thrust rate of 28,000 lbf each. It has an optimized core and a fan 8-inches larger than the Boeing 737, which resulted in an unmatched range and efficiency compared with its competitors. The aircraft has a travel range of 6,515 nautical miles and a maximum cruise speed of 470 knots. The service ceiling is 41,000 feet and the rate of climb is 3,100 feet per minute.
